On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of The Venice Glass Week, CASA YALI presents an extended and reimagined version of Paola Petrobelli’s first solo exhibition in Venice. The artist introduces a new variation of the works on view exploring the infinite potential of combinations between colours, materials, and forms.
      GLAS, PLEXI extend until November 2026 through a newly reconfigured iteration of the works on view. The exhibition will reveal the full potential of Petrobelli’s modular language: elements initially presented as table lamps will be reassembled into new compositions, and vice versa, creating an ongoing open system capable of generating endless variations.
The exhibition brings together a new series of handblown glass works, including the unconventional combination of glass and acrylic. Through the dialogue between these materials, Petrobelli explores form, colour, and light as active and constitutive elements of the work. Light passes through the pieces, shaping their perception and allowing the glass to emerge as an autonomous presence, whose qualities unfold beyond external lighting conditions or spatial context.
      Petrobelli’s practice develops at the intersection of different lineages, from the materially grounded and anti-rhetorical approach of Carlo Scarpa to the experimental legacy of Ettore Sottsass. Her early training in molecular biology informs a distinctive approach to colour and form, where variation and repetition become tools for achieving balance and formal harmony. Through modular systems in constant evolution, Petrobelli challenges traditional notions of authorship and fixed form, inviting viewers to explore the playful and infinite possibilities generated by each configuration.
      The exhibition will be activated on 12 September 2026 on the occasion of the opening of The Venice Glass Week, and on 16 September with a public conversation between Paola Petrobelli and Franz Rainald, Curator of the Glass and Ceramic Collection at the MAK—Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna.
