On the occasion of the Venice Art Biennale 2026, CASA YALI presents the first solo exhibition in Venice by Amy Revier. The artist presents a new body of work developed during her residency at CASA YALI, unfolding weaving as a conceptual tool and sculptural practice through a site-responsive inquiry.
During her residency at CASA YALI, Revier develops a new body of work that engages weaving as both sculptural practice and conceptual framework. Rooted in research into textile histories and trade routes, the residency foregrounds process as a means of articulating the city’s stratified memory. Handweaving functions as an apparatus through which material and concept converge as a structured surface shaped by tension, rhythm, and deliberate compositional choices. Each work retains the traces of its making, embedding within its form the temporal, material, and intellectual conditions that informed its production.
A series of open studio sessions activates the space as a site for live recording, where weaving unfolds in dialogue with sound between the artist and local musicians. The studio functions as an open working landscape, where textiles fragments and research materials accumulate across space, forming a dynamic archive that evolves alongside the creation of the work and culminates in the exhibition hosted at CASA YALI.
Amy Revier is an artist living and working between London, Italy, and Texas. Her multidisciplinary practice focuses on sculpture and handwoven pieces, often process-led and material-driven, emphasizing the evidence of the hand and referencing ancient ways of making. She has established collaborations with artisans in Japan, the UK, Sweden, New Zealand, India, and Italy, and regularly works with spinners of unusual yarns. Revier holds a BFA in sculpture and art history from SMU in Dallas, Texas, and was a Fulbright Scholar in Iceland (2009–2010), where she expanded her work to include weaving. Her work has been presented at Blue Mountain School (London), Dover Street Market (London), Hauser & Wirth (London), Roche Court Sculpture Park (UK), Archivio Lante (Italy), and featured in Frieze, Wallpaper, The New York Times, Financial Times, and Vogue. She was awarded the Rome Prize in Art & Design (American Academy in Rome, 2024–2025) and is the 2025–26 recipient of the Nancy Graves Foundation Artist Grant, which supports her creation of new work during her Venice residency.
